Day 6 in Paradise
It is about an 1 hour and a half to the mainland by boat, we left at 7am, we ate breakfast on the river. We had fresh fruits and journeycakes (johnnycakes) some with ham and cheese and some with four-legged chicken (iguana) (it was really chicken, I think they were just trying to freak people out). The boat ride was fast and very the river was full of twist and turns.

We then made our way to Bomba village a very small place with no power or running water. There were also no schools or churches there, but they did have a giant central american rat and very clean batrooms surprisingly.
Giant Rat, a woman thought it was a rabbit believe it or not...it was bigger than Cosmo. By the way, this was not a pet, but DINNER!
The restrooms...not quite the Four Seasons...
After our bathroom stop in Bomba we all packed in a school bus, the guide had told us this bus ride was going to be remniscent of Romancing the Stone, but fortunately it was just very bumpy and there were no goats or chickens on board. The bus trip was about another a hour and half in "Belizean" minutes (as our guides called them).
On the bus trip we saw the sugar cane fields, very skinny cows and we also played chicken with oncoming traffic, the bus always wins by the way.
Once we got off the bus, we got on another boat that would take us to Lamanai. We saw crocodiles, bats, termite nests, all sorts of birds and Mennonites (which are kinda like the Amish), but more colorful, they waved and gave us weird stares...we all felt guilty about taking their pics but they are most likely used to it with all the tourism...apparently they moved to Belize in the 1950's from Germany.
The mennonites on their wagon...
more to come later...

Victory is Possible
The Global War on Terror is now in its sixth year, the United States and its allies are determined to eradicate terror with its focus on Islamo-facism and its spread throughout the world. This is the hardest war we have ever waged because we face an enemy without a recognizable army and no certain nation to engage. Michael Vickers (2006) asserts, “The principal challenge the U.S. will face over the long term is how to take the fight to Islamic terrorist networks in countries with which the U.S. is not at war. This will require an indirect and clandestine approach that makes heavy use of local allies, U.S. Special Operations Forces and intelligence” (p. D 10). We have already faced criticism because of what some call an “unjust” war in Iraq. Our government did a poor job in justifying the cause to go to war there and the media has done even a poorer job in investigating and informing the public on Saddam Hussein’s avid support of terror, concentrating on the administration’s lack of evidence of weapons of mass destruction. In addition, the war on terror goes much deeper with involvement of the nation of Iraq. The city of Baghdad is the most important front we are fighting for because many Muslims believe it should be the capital of Islamic World, the caliphate, thus it is the center of hostility. The radical Islamists are not just fighting a war, they are fighting a holy war and believe Muslims and non-Muslims must conform to their interpretation of Islam or die by the sword.
For this reason the world must be steadfast and show no weakness to this religious animosity. Unfortunately, many countries including our own have turned a blind eye to things that could improve our security and ensure our safety. Griset and Mahan (2003) point out that the openness of our country such as unprotected borders, the vast amount of visas issued to foreigners and the spread of our culture and military presence in other countries has given the terrorists the opportunity and the motivation to infiltrate our society (p. 278). Border enforcement is extremely important not just in the U.S. but also in the countries that we are fighting in. Also, the U.S. has to be diligent in promoting democracy, but not looking like oppressors in doing so. I think we have achieved this in Iraq and Afghanistan but we are always on defense against militant groups and the media who think otherwise. On every road to democracy there has been instigators trying to renounce this type of government, but in Japan, Germany and even in early America democracy has been successful and prevailed. Representative Bob Goodlatte (2006) insists, “We have stood for the spread of democracy around the world including in Afghanistan, Iraq and the broader Middle East. With our leadership, the ideals that have inspired our history – freedom, democracy, and human dignity – are increasingly inspiring individuals and nations throughout the world. Because free nations tend toward peace, the advance of liberty will make America more secure” (para. 3, 4). His statement is not only brilliant and true but detrimental to the survival of the world against radical Islam.
As a result of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 we have seen many of our civil liberties taken away, but this is necessary in achieving a safer place to live and fundamental in fighting the enemy. Throughout United States’ history we have seen our freedoms breached by the government during times of war and every time it has been protested but crucial to victory. Shun-jie Ji (n.d.) discusses the history of the suppression of personal freedoms during every war, most notably President Lincoln’s suspension of habeas corpus without Congress’s authorization. In addition, President Woodrow Wilson forbade the German language to be spoken or taught during WWI and President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an executive order during WWII that created Japanese internment camps imprisoning over 120,000 Japanese Americans (p. 139-141). Granted what the Bush Administration has incorporated into the Patriot Act has not been as severe as past administrations actions and most Americans are completely unaffected by the legislation.
Admittedly there are groups that believe the Patriot Act has been damaging, Griset and Mahan (2003) asserts, “On the day of the terrorist attacks, federal law enforcement agents began what may end up as the most extensive criminal investigations in U.S. history. Focusing on non-U.S. citizens, particularly immigrants and visitors from Arab and Muslim nations, federal investigators ultimately detained more than 1000 foreigners” (p.285). Since the enactment of the Patriot Act the government and law enforcement have been accused of racial profiling and are constantly berated and sued by groups such as the ACLU and Council on American-Islamic Relations. Regrettably, the actions by these groups have made people fear the repercussions of racially profiling, causing airline security screeners to search all passengers randomly instead of using their gut or intelligence in their assessments.
After the terrorist attacks, the United States was extremely unified and full of courage, however most of that has fizzled because of elections and a lack of terrorist threats here. Many politicians are now politicizing the Global War on Terror in order to win votes and power. These politicians and war critics say very damaging things that empower our enemies and are broadcasted worldwide. William Kristol (2004) quotes Ted Kennedy, “We now learn that Saddam’s torture chambers reopened under new management: U.S. management” (p. 9). I believe statements like these are treasonous and as a Senator, you should have a great faith and love for our country, no matter what political party may reside in the White House. These types of statements are made without realizing how the enemy and people from around the world will take them. They see us as a weak, divided nation and they may be right.
The American people are luckily have been completely unaffected by the jihad declared against us since 9/11, the war is being fought elsewhere and unlike past wars civilians have not had to sacrifice much. As a result, many are just tired of hearing about the war and probably will not care again until another major attack is waged within our borders. Philip Stephens (2006) describes a lecture given by former national security advisor to President Carter, Zbigniew Brzezinski, in which he describes the constant uncertainty and fear of the Cold War brought, where we thought nuclear annihilation was inevitable. This enemy is not so certain; the enemy is everywhere and nowhere. The way to fight is uncertain as well because there are so many battle fronts, states that are sponsoring terror, terrorist cells hiding among us and even schools that promote this radical Islamist ideology throughout the world. Stephens goes on to say, “The simplicity of mutually assured destruction has been replaced by the unpredictability of religious fundamentalism and the proliferation of unconventional weapons. We knew how to counter communism. Deterrence, containment and mutual restraint were strategies honed over decades. But how do you deter a suicide bomber armed with a nuclear or chemical weapon” (p.17).
Certainly it is the case we are fighting a brand new unknown enemy, one that is actively recruiting all races of people including Americans to carry out attacks. It is frightening. I believe the most important thing to fighting extremism is empowering Muslims to step up and fight the maniacs that have hijacked their religion. There have been several conferences on reforming the Muslim religion, denouncing shari’a law and followers of the old harsh aspects of the faith. These people are heroes of the Muslim world, they will most likely be killed for speaking out against the radical Islamists and most have a fatwa issued for their death already. In addition to the Muslim world taking back there faith and reforming it, the powerful religious leaders must issue a fatwa against the terrorists especially leaders like al-Sadr and bin-Laden. Until this happens how is it possible for anyone in this faith to stand up and fight without fearing for their life and the lives of their families?
All in all, we have a long road ahead of us and most likely we will have even more horrendous attacks made on our soil. War is a terrible but fighting war is necessary for freedom and peace for all. America needs to get back to reality and stop living in a world of denial, we may never get the gumption back until thousands more innocents are murdered. We need to get the “good” Muslims to stand up and fight shoulder to shoulder with us and not to fear the “evil” Muslims. We need to get all governments to protect their borders from these extremists. The political correctness in Washington and in the media has got to stop. The groups claiming to be protecting civil rights need to wake up and realize they are creating an even bigger danger and are impeding the effectiveness of our military and law enforcement. Terrorism will always thrive in the world but Islamo-fascism; I hope will one day be a page in a history book.

Islamofascism and Socialism: Global Partners??

Found this article on the WSJ website
Full Article
The European left makes common cause with the Muslim right.
BY BRET STEPHENS
"It is a profound truth," declared the British Socialist Party in a 1911 manifesto, "that Socialism is the natural enemy of religion." Not the least of the oddities in the subsequent history of progressive politics is that today it has become the principal vehicle in the West for Islamist goals and policies.
Curiously, however, Europe's progressives have been somewhat less tolerant on other issues concerning moral values and personal belief. Take "Islamophobia," which progressives often consider akin to racism and have, in some instances, sought to ban by legal means. In Britain last year, Tony Blair's government enacted the Racial and Religious Hatred Act, which criminalized "threatening" comments against religious persons or beliefs. Comedian Rowan Atkinson and author Salman Rushdie, among others, warned that the law undermined basic rights of speech. But for London Mayor Ken Livingstone it was not enough: He defined "Islamophobia" as "discrimination, intolerance or hostility towards Islam and Muslims," and regretted that criminal acts were not more broadly defined by the legislation.
Since coming to office nearly seven years ago, Mr. Livingstone has become a symbol of the marriage of the European left and the Islamist right. It's a marriage of mutual convenience and, at least on one side, actual belief. In the Netherlands, a recent study by the University of Amsterdam's Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies found that 80% of immigrants--the overwhelming majority of whom are Muslims--voted for the Labor party in recent elections, while the two main center-right parties received a combined 4% of the immigrant vote. In neighboring Belgium, the left-wing sociologist Jan Hertogen credits immigrants for "[saving] democracy" by voting as a bloc against the secessionist and anti-immigrant Vlaams Belang party.
For Muslim voters in Europe, the attractions of the Socialists are several. Socialists have traditionally taken a more accommodating approach to immigrants and asylum-seekers than their conservative rivals. They have championed the welfare state and the benefits it offers poor newcomers. They have promoted a multiculturalist ethos, which in practice has meant respecting Muslim traditions even when they conflict with Western values. In foreign policy, Socialists have often been anti-American and, by extension, hostile to Israel. That hostility has only increased as Muslim candidates have joined the Socialists' electoral slates and as the Muslim vote has become ever more crucial to the Socialists' electoral margin.
More mysterious, however, at least as a matter of ideology, has been the dalliance of the progressive left with the (Islamic) political right. Self-styled progressives, after all, have spent the past four decades championing the very freedoms that Islam most opposes: sexual and reproductive freedoms, gay rights, freedom from religion, pornography and various forms of artistic transgression, pacifism and so on. For those who hold this form of politics dear, any long-term alliance with Islamic politics ultimately becomes an ideological, if not a political, suicide pact. One cannot, after all, champion the cause of universal liberation in alliance with a movement that at its core stands for submission.
This is not, of course, the first time such a thing has happened in the history of the progressive movement, or in European history. On the contrary, it is the recurring theme. In the early 20th century, the apostles of Fabianism--George Bernard Shaw among them--looked to the Soviet Union for inspiration; in the 1960s the model was Mao; in the late 1970s, the great French philosopher Michel Foucault went to Iran to write a paean to Khomeini's revolution. In nearly every case, the progressives were, by later admission, deceived, but not before they had performed their service as "useful idiots" to a totalitarian cause.
But the stakes today are different. At question for Europeans is not the prevailing view of a distant country. The question is the shaping of their own. Europe's liberal democrats were able, sometimes with outside help, to preserve their values in the face of an outside threat. Whether they can resist the temptations of Islamosocialism remains to be seen.

and the Oscar goes to.....
POWER: GORE MANSION USES 20X AVERAGE HOUSEHOLD; CONSUMPTION INCREASE AFTER 'TRUTH'
Mon Feb 26 2007 17:16:14 ET
The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization committed to achieving a freer, more prosperous Tennessee through free market policy solutions, issued a press release late Monday:
Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.
Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).
In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.
The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.
Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.
Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.
Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.
“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.
In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

Democrats Use Politics to Undermine War Effort
Happy Birthday Abraham Lincoln!
Here is the reasoning behind the madness:
Presidents' Day is the common name for the United States federal holiday officially designated as Washington's Birthday. It is celebrated on the third Monday of February.
As the official title of the federal holiday, Washington's Birthday was originally implemented by the federal government in 1880 in the District of Columbia and expanded in 1885. to include all federal offices. As the first federal holiday to honor an American citizen, the holiday was celebrated on Washington's actual birthday, February 22nd. In 1971 the federal holiday was shifted to the third Monday in February.
In the late 1980s, with a push from advertisers (see detail below), the term Presidents' Day began its public appearance. The theme has expanded the focus of the holiday to honor another February President, Abraham Lincoln, and often other Presidents of the United States as well. Although Lincoln's birthday,, February 12 was never a federal holiday, approximately a dozen state governments have officially renamed their Washington's Birthday observances as "Presidents' Day", "Washington and Lincoln Day", or other such designations. It is also interesting to note that "Presidents' Day" is not always an all-inclusive term. In Massachusetts while their state holiday honors "Washington's Birthday", there is also a Presidents' Day Proclamation honoring the Presidents that have come from the New England area. Alabama uniquely observes the day as "Washington and Jefferson Day," even though Jefferson's birthday was in April. In Connecticut while Presidents' Day is a federal holiday, Abraham Lincoln's birthday is still a state holiday, falling on February 12 regardless of the day of the week.
In Washington's home state of Virginia the holiday is legally known as "George Washington Day."

"What do we want? Freedom!"

This is just one of the chants heard at a student demonstration in Tehran, Iran. Thousands gathered to protest the Extremist Government. Banners that read: "If I rise up and you rise up, everyone will rise up." Even women, the bravest protesters of all were out some even without their faces covered. I saw this pic (above) of the two women holding hands and cried for them, hoping if I would have the same courage if I was there. Please check out this site and the pics of the protesters...

Michael Savage for President
"President Michael Savage in the Oval Office would be a blessing to America, and would be a positive answer to millions of conservative prayers.
In fact, a Savage presidency may the only hope for saving America from liberal nitwits like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, not to mention RINOs(Rebublicans In Name Only) and our "conservative" president.
Dr. Savage believes in American "borders, language, and culture." He would fight to secure our borders, make English use mandatory, and he would strive to preserve the rich American heritage."
"Savage is the conservative's conservative--a man who would make Ronald Reagan and Goldwater beam with pride."

Did Saddam have WMD's or did Bush lie?
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
- President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998 NANCY IS OUR NEW SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE...LUCKY US!
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... Madeline Albright's Visit to North Korea

As you can see by the picture, it was like love at first site. Clinton's former secretary of state met with Kim Jong Il in October of 2000. She was entertained by the Dictator and swept off her feet by hundreds of slave dancers and slave children bringing her food. She isn't stupid, she knows this guy starves his own people. Most of all she knows he is evil, but hey aren't we all, but still they said he promised not to make Nukes. To top all of this off we gave North Korea billions in aid(the taxpayers money, your money!), which I am sure he spent on feeding his people NOT!

Jimmy Carter Wins Nobel Peace Prize
Below is part of an interview with Carter after he negotiated with the Communists in North Korea.
Jimmy Carter, interview with CNN (upon his return from North Korea), June 22, 1994
JUDY WOODRUFF: .... Are you absolutely persuaded that the North Koreans are going to honor this agreement, that while the talks are going on that it's not just a matter of buying time on the part of the North Koreans, that they will not secretly pursue the program they were pursuing earlier, nuclear program?
JIMMY CARTER: Judy, I'm convinced. But I said this when I got back from North Korea, and people said that I was naive or gullible and so forth. I don't think I was. In my opinion, this was one of those perfect agreements where both sides won and got what they wanted and there were no-nobody blinked, nobody had to yield.... I think the most important lesson is that we should not ever avoid direct talks, direct conversations, direct discussions and negotiations with the main person in a despised or misunderstood or condemned society who could actually resolve the issue. And we went through this for ten years when nobody in our government would meet or talk to Yasir Arafat. The Norwegians did, and they were the ones that brought the peace agreement last summer....

The Democrats ignoring the REAL enemy

This cartoon pretty much explains it all...but if you are not aware...the democrats have been out trying to get these terrorist enemy combatants the same rights as United States Citizens...they are not POW's, they do not wear uniforms or belong to a specific country's army...they have no rights under the Geneva Convention. But we as Americans are still compassionate and the Bush admin. has put out there for the Congress to come up with actual rules, so the people out in the field have no fear of breaking international law and being tried in international courts. The democrats are stalling, they have taken away the ability for us to spy on the terrorists and want them treated like common criminals. They want to negotiate with people who want to cut our heads off. They have no war plan and all the do is blame Bush and attack Republicans. They say this is patriotism, criticizing the administration...not last time I checked, they should be fighting for our country no matter what the cost or who we may "offend". Their plan is to put the control of the war in the hands of the courts. This is completely a violation of the Constitution, they don't call the President the Commander in Chief for nothing...and right now our enemies are watching CNN and laughing.

The Non-Aligned Movement of developing nations began a summit in Cuba on Monday with speeches that made no reference to the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks in a sign of animosity to the United States. Yes, world leaders are meeting for a Bash America Slumber Party at Fidel Castros house. The pictures of the president of Iran who says he wants Americas destroyed are sickening...

Saddam forced to watch South Park the Movie

If you don't remember or didn't watch South Park's movie, Saddam Hussein is one of the biggest stars. He actually is portrayed as being in a homosexual relationship with Satan and they bicker like a married couple. Of course Satan kills him and sends him to hell, which is always fun. Some of the Marines have told the creators of South Park that Saddam has had to watch the movie...can this get any better.

Israel Against the Islamic World
Unfortunately this may be the beginning of a huge war between many Middle Eastern countries with Iran being the big daddy!
The leader of Iran is a psycho, to put this into perspective, this guy has actually said his mission is to destroy the Jews and Israel. Even Hitler in his wacko writings and ramblings, never said this kind of stuff, he was more nonchalant about it at least, hiding the giant ovens from the outside world for as long as he could. So in other words, be afraid of the president of Iran, he is not a good guy!
Be prepared for a big war and super high gas prices, just remember war sucks but its is better to fight the whole thing over there than here in our backyards.
